North Macedonia MOF Announces Vehicle Tax Incentives for Reduced CO2 Emissions

The North Macedonian Ministry of Finance Dec. 27 announced amended calculations for the vehicle excise tax, based on CO2 emissions for vehicles valued up to 10,000 euros (US$11,216), beginning Jan. 1, 2020. The announcement clarifies: 1) vehicle taxation based on the ecological category; 2) incentives for purchasing new vehicles with lower emissions; 3) amendments to the taxation of large taxis and corporate vehicles; and 4) a full exemption for electric vehicles and a 50 percent exemption for hybrid vehicles.
