North Macedonia Tax Agency Announces Amendments to VAT Law

The North Macedonian Public Revenue Office Sept. 25 announced amendments to the VAT Law. The announcement includes measures to: 1) apply VAT on the turnover from goods and services carried out for a fee within North Macedonia and on the import of goods; 2) introduce the concept of a tax agent effective Jan. 1, 2024, and regulate the tax treatment of sales through value vouchers; 3) increase the preferential VAT rate to 10 percent from 5 percent for luxury food products, effective Sept. 1; 4) reduce the preferential VAT rate to 5 percent from 18 percent for feminine hygiene products, ...
