Norway Opposition Conservatives Say Won’t Tax Unrealized Gains

Norway’s opposition Conservative Party pledges to reverse the planned exit tax that applies to unrealized capital gains, according to its election program.

  • Says the plan is to “retain the main principle that tax on investments is paid on realization” and that “expatriates must pay tax on gains accrued in Norway when the gains are realized, as has been the general rule”
  • Reiterates plan to abolish wealth tax on working capital, while considering “a partial exchange for other business taxation”
