OECD Considers Tech to Pre-populate Returns, Tokenize Taxpayers

The OECD is exploring additional ways technology can aid in tax information sharing and compliance, according to an organization official.

Potential efforts include creating digital identity verification systems, introducing real-time reporting and pre-populated tax returns, and providing direct access to data repositories to streamline processes, said Paul Hondius, head of the OECD’s Harmful Tax Practices Unit.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development is “looking into how exchange of information, tax transparency initiatives and technology to transmit information can help those efforts in making tax administrations leaner, faster and fitter for the future,” he said at a panel at ...
