Pakistan Tax Agency Posts Proposed Bill to Amend Various Tax Laws

The Pakistani Federal Board of Revenue Dec. 26 posted online a proposed bill to amend various tax laws. The bill includes measures to: 1) amend the Sales Tax Act to permit the use of an automated risk management system to defer specific input taxes or fix the higher and lower input tax adjustment limits; 2) permit the use of coercive actions such as sealing business premises, barring bank accounts and immovable property transfers, and appointing a receiver for taxpayers who fail to register for sales tax; 3) allow the Tax Agency to appoint auditors to enforce the tax laws directly ...
