Governments across Latin America and the Caribbean need to boost tax revenues as they seek to support vulnerable citizens and shore up battered public finances in the wake of the pandemic, the OECD warned Wednesday.
“Once the region has emerged from the pandemic, tax systems will need to be reformed and strengthened to support an inclusive economic recovery and to ensure a sustainable and fair fiscal position in the medium-to-long term,” the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development said in its annual review of regional tax statistics.
