Peru Congress Considers Bill to Repeal Legislative Decree Amending General Sales Tax, Selective Consumption Tax

The Peruvian Congress Oct. 3 accepted for consideration Bill No. 09115/2024-CR, to repeal Legislative Decree No. 1623, concerning the general sales tax (IGV) and selective consumption tax on the use of digital services in the country and the importation of intangible goods via the internet. The bill includes measures that would abolish the 18 percent IGV under Legislative Decree No. 1623 on digital services provided by non-domiciled companies, including streaming, apartment rentals, transportation, and digital storage.
