A recent high court ruling that reduces how much interest can be assessed on tax debts if a company challenges them in court will cost Peruvians 12 billion soles ($3.1 billion), the finance ministry said in a statement sent by text message.
- Ministry said the ruling “eliminates a large part of delinquent interests” assessed to overdue tax debts
- Ruling is the opposite of the govt tax policy over the past 30 years, the ministry said
