Peru Joins Global Tax Deal, Leaving Eight Holdouts

Peru has joined the 130 other countries that struck a deal last week to rewrite global tax rules and agreements, leaving eight holdouts as negotiators work to finalize details in coming months.

Group of 20 finance ministers will meet this Friday and Saturday to sign off on the plan. It aims to create a global minimum corporate tax rate of at least 15%, and give a bigger slice of multinationals’ tax revenue to the countries where they operate, instead of merely where they’re headquartered.
