Philippine Finance Chief Supports Estate Tax Amnesty Extension

Philippines’ Finance Secretary Frederick Go said he is supporting a congressional bill extending the estate tax amnesty until end-2028.

  • House bill aims “to give more Filipino families the opportunity to settle obligations on inherited properties,” finance department says in a statement
    • “This will maximize the use of idle assets and boost productivity,” Go says
  • Finance department plans to grant relief to families unable to formalize inheritance because of financial, other constraints
  • Amnesty proposal covers estates of descendants who passed on or before May 31, 2022
