Philippines Court of Tax Appeals Issues Decision Cancelling VAT Deficiency for Ford Motor Company Subsidiary

The Philippine Court of Tax Appeals April 4 issued a decision in CTA Case No. 10805, granting the VAT appeal of Ford Group Philippines, a subsidiary of the Ford Motor Company, and cancelling its alleged VAT deficiency for 2018. Ford Group, a registered VAT taxpayer, claimed that certain sales of its goods qualified for VAT zero-rating. The taxpayer also contended that the Commissioner of Internal Revenue (CIR) disallowed excess input tax carried over to a succeeding period, violating its right to due process.
