Poland Passes Bill Cracking Down on VAT Fraud

Poland is making it harder for businesses to commit VAT fraud.

Companies would be required to make all business-to-business payments to officially registered bank accounts, under legislation the Senate passed May 9.

  • The measure would try to prevent fraud that involves vendors selling goods, adding value-added tax to the price, and then not paying the collected VAT to the tax authority.
