The Polish Prime Minister’s Office Feb. 7 announced a draft act to implement measures to combat VAT fraud, in light of new EU rules entering into force Jan. 1, 2024. The announcement describes measures to: 1) align Polish laws combating VAT fraud with those of the EU; 2) provide administrative tools to more effectively combat VAT fraud in international e-commerce; 3) require payment service providers, such as banks and credit institutions, to keep quarterly records of cross-border payments and payees; 4) require this record keeping from providers executing over 25 cross-border payments to the same payee in a quarter; and ...
