Poland to Cut VAT on Power, Gas to Help Curb CPI: Wyborcza

Poland’s government plans to cut value added tax on electricity to 5% and gas to 8% from 23% as part of anti-inflationary measures, Wyborcza.biz reports, without saying where it got information.

  • The cut would be most probably for 3 months next year
  • Govt also plans to reduce excise tax on fuels
  • NOTE: PM Mateusz Morawiecki and Deputy PM Jacek Sasin, in charge of state-controlled energy companies, hold press conference at 10:30am on Thursday
