Poland to Delay Lowering VAT Rates Until Economy Stabilizes

Poland will delay the planned lowering of VAT rates to stabilize public finances hit by the virus crisis under a draft bill adopted Wednesday by the Council of Ministers.

The bill has yet to be approved by the Polish parliament. The Council of Ministers is the decision-making body of the Polish government.

  • Under existing rules, two of the three rates—the standard rate of 23% and the reduced rate of 8%—were to drop by 1 percentage point from Jan. 1, 2021.
