Polish Parliament Approves Copper Tax Cut, Higher Sugar Tax

Poland will reduce taxation of copper and silver mining by approximately 2 billion Polish zloty ($548 million) over the next three years, under a bill approved Thursday by the upper house of parliament.

In addition, copper and silver miners will be entitled from 2029 to a 40% tax deduction for eligible investment expenditures.

Under a separate bill also approved Thursday, Poland will hike, as of Jan. 1, 2026, taxation of non-alcoholic beverages containing sugar, caffeine or taurine, after initial tax levels were found to be insufficient to encourage healthier consumer choices.
