Portugal Parliament Considers Bill to Remove Sunset for Reduced VAT for Renewable Energy Equipment

The Portuguese Parliament June 30 accepted for consideration Bill No. 66/XVII/1, to remove the sunset date for the reduced 6 percent VAT rate for specified renewable energy equipment. The bill includes measures to remove the June 30 sunset date for the reduced rate, preventing the return to the standard 23 percent rate, for the acquisition, delivery and installation, and maintenance and repair of devices, machines, and other equipment intended solely or primarily for the capture and use of solar, wind, and geothermal energy or other alternative energy forms.
