PwC Australia Makes 338 Staff Redundant, Loses Big Bank Audit

PwC Australia is making 338 staff redundant and has been dropped as the auditor for a long-standing bank client, compounding its problems after a major tax leak scandal hit the business.

Some 141 jobs are being scrapped at the firm’s skilled service hub in Adelaide, which supports public sector and corporate clients, with another 197 staff cut from the firm’s national workforce, PwC announced Wednesday. One of Australia’s biggest banks, Westpac Banking Corporation, said Wednesday that it was looking a new auditor to replace PwC, also known as PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
