The Rhode Island legislature amended Section 44-3-4 of the General Laws, authorizing the Town of Middletown to adopt, by ordinance, additional veterans’ property tax exemptions and tax credits. The amendment allows Middletown to provide exemptions or credits to all veterans who were not dishonorably discharged, regardless of service dates, and to extend enhanced exemptions or credits to totally disabled veterans and certain surviving spouses. The act took effect upon passage. [H.B. 7662, enacted 05/06/26]
