Rob Heferen to Take the Helm at Australian Tax Office Next Year

The Australian government is tapping Rob Heferen to be the next commissioner of the Australian Tax Office.

Treasury announced in a release Thursday that Heferen will succeed current commissioner Chris Jordan for a seven-year term on March 1, 2024, after the latter’s term expires.

Heferen didn’t immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.

  • Heferen is chief executive officer of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, and previously was a deputy secretary at the Australian Treasury overseeing tax policy and legislation from 2011 to 2016.
