S. African Finance Minister Says Energy Tax Incentives Temporary

South African Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana said in parliament on Wednesday that the tax incentives for individuals to install solar panels, as announced in his budget speech last month, are a temporary measure while the country tries to stabilize its power grid.

Fending off criticism for the National Treasury’s spending decisions, he said no other political party would be able to run South Africa on a sustainable basis. “It’s a progressive budget which talks to the challenges which are facing this country,” Godongwana said.
