Societe Generale SA may win the dismissal of a lawsuit filed by Helaba linked to controversial Cum-Ex deals that were stopped by tax authorities, a German appeals court said.
The French bank is trying to overturn a 2018 ruling from a Frankfurt court awarding Helaba 22.9 million euros ($25.5 million). Helaba’s claim has little chance of success, Presiding Judge Marco Deichmann said Oct. 24 at a hearing in Frankfurt. The parties, however, didn’t rule out a settlement when the judge asked about the possibility.
