Spain Cabinet Approves Royal Decrees to Increase Minimum Wage, Change Minimum Personal Income Withholding

The Spanish Council of Ministers Feb. 6 approved royal decrees to increase the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI) for 2024, and to change the amount of the minimum personal income tax (IRPF) withholding. The decrees includes measures that would: 1) increase the monthly SMI by 5 percent, to 1,134 euros (US$1,221.31), for 14 payments; 2) set the minimum hourly wage at 8.87 euros (US$9.55), for domestic workers; 3) set the daily wage at 37.80 euros (US$40.72), for workers in agriculture, industry, and services, regardless of age or gender; 4) set the daily minimum wage at 53.71 euros (US$57.85), for temporary workers ...
