Spain Gazettes Royal Decree Extending Reduced VAT on Electricity Due to War

The Spanish Official Gazette March 30 published Royal Decree Law No. 6/2022, extending the reduced VAT rate on electricity, given increased wholesale electricity prices, due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. The royal decree includes measures: 1) extending the reduced VAT rate of 10 percent, and the reduced special tax rate of 0.5 percent, on electricity until June 30; and 2) extending the suspension of the electricity production value tax until the end of Q2 2022.
