Spain Tells Ferrovial Chairman Move to Netherlands Is ‘Mistake’

Spain’s Socialist-led government clashed with Ferrovial SA over the decision by one of the country’s biggest firms to shift its legal domicile to The Netherlands.

Economy Minister Nadia Calviño told Ferrovial’s Executive Chairman Rafael Del Pino by phone that the plan to move “is a mistake” and that the engineering firm “owes everything to Spain,” according to a statement from the ministry on Wednesday.

Her comments come after Ferrovial SA, which operates Heathrow airport and has sprawling operations in the US, said on Tuesday it would fold itself via a reverse merger into its Dutch unit Ferrovial International. FISE, ...
