Spain’s Frontrunner Feijoo Bets on Tax Cuts to Win Premiership

Opposition leader Alberto Nunez Feijoois pledging an overhaul of Spain’s fiscal system if he wins the premiership later this month.

Feijoo, who heads the conservative People’s Party which first in polls ahead of the July 23 election, presented on Tuesday a 365-point government program that includes among other measures boosting funds to recruit military troops and revoking a tax on large fortunes.

“The previous government was so focused on going after the rich that it forgot about the middle and working classes,” Feijoo told a crowd of supporters in Madrid, promising to simplify income and corporate taxes.
