A Spanish industry group representing more than 300 companies in the wind energy sector warned that a new, additional tax on electricity amid the conflict in Iran would negatively impact investment.
The wind energy sector has one of the highest tax burdens in Spain’s economy, Asociación Empresarial Eólica wrote Monday in a statement.
“Therefore, requesting new potential taxes that impact the electricity sector creates legal uncertainty and scares away investors, precisely at the moment when it is most necessary to invest in technologies such as wind power, as a substitute for imported fossil fuels,” the group said.
