Sri Lanka Tax Agency Issues Notice on Amendments to Social Security Contribution Levy Act

The Sri Lankan Inland Revenue Department April 16 issued Notice No. PN/SSCL/2026-04/1, on the implementation of amendments to the Social Security Contribution Levy Act under the Social Security Contribution Levy (Amendment) Act. The notice includes measures to: 1) reduce to 9 million Sri Lankan rupees (US$28,449), from 15 million rupees (US$47,415), and to 36 million rupees (US$113,797), from 60 million rupees (US$189,662), the quarterly and annual turnover thresholds, respectively, for mandatory social security contribution levy (SSCL) registration by taxable persons carrying out any taxable activity, effective July 1; and 2) replace the SSCL exemption on imported motor vehicles with a ...
