The Swedish Official Gazette March 3 published Law Nos. SFS 2026:118 and SFS 2026:119, implementing a temporary VAT rate reduction on food and bottled water. The laws include measures: 1) temporarily reducing to 6 percent, from 12 percent the VAT rate on supplies, intra-Community acquisitions, and imported foodstuffs and bottled water intended for sale, until Dec. 31, 2027; 2) excluding from the temporary rate reduction spirits, wine, strong beer, and specified drinking water; and 3) applying the new rate to transactions for which the taxable event occurs before the entry into force date.
