The Swedish Ministry of Finance May 25 announced an increase in tax rates on alcohol and tobacco. The announcement increases the tax by: 1) 3 percent with the change in the consumer price index for tobacco products like cigarettes, effective Jan. 1, 2023, and a further 1 percent increase, effective Jan. 1, 2024; 2) 1 percent for e-liquids and products containing nicotine, effective Jan. 1, 2024; 3) 5 percent for alcoholic beverages like bear and wine, effective Jan. 1, 2023, and a further 8 percent increase, effective Jan. 1, 2024; and 4) 1 percent for spirits, effective Jan. 1, 2023, ...
