Switzerland Cabinet Approves Draft Decree to Increase VAT Rates

The Swiss Federal Council Oct. 16 approved a draft decree to increase VAT rates. The draft decree includes measures to increase: 1) the standard VAT rate to 8.8 percent from 8.1 percent; 2) the special VAT rate for accommodation services to 4.2 percent from 3.8 percent; and 3) the reduced VAT rate to 2.8 percent from 2.6 percent.
