Taiwan Gazettes Presidential Decree Amending Individual Income Tax Exemptions, Deductions

The Taiwanese Official Gazette Dec. 26, 2025 published Presidential Decree No. 11400132281, amending individual income tax exemptions and deductions. The decree includes measures: 1) increasing, by 50 percent, the personal exemption if the taxpayer, their spouse, other specified individuals are 70 years of age or older; 2) allowing an election between standard and itemized deductions, and setting the standard deduction at NT$120,000 (US$3,823) for the taxpayer, or NT$240,000 (US$7,646) for the taxpayer and their spouse; 3) detailing itemized deductions, including up to NT$300,000 (US$9,556) for home loan interest per qualifying household annually, up to NT$200,000 (US$6,370) for salary income, and ...
