The Taiwanese Ministry of Finance Nov. 27 announced an increase to NT$213,000 (US$6,782), from NT$210,000 (US$6,687), in the basic living expense per person for 2025. The announcement also includes: 1) the calculation for determining total household basic living expenses; and 2) a clarification that household basic living expenses that exceed total exemptions and deductions, including standard, itemized, and specified special deductions, can be claimed as an additional deduction from gross consolidated income. The increase applies to tax year 2025 individual income tax filings due in May 2026. [Taiwan, Ministry of Finance, 11/27/25]
