The Taiwanese Ministry of Finance Jan. 26 released a clarification on corporate income tax obligations for income from the sale of domestic securities. The clarification includes: 1) the requirement for businesses to include the income from domestic securities sales when calculating their liability for income basic tax, also known as the alternative minimum tax, even though the income is exempt from the regular corporate income tax; and 2) penalties for noncompliance.
