Taiwan MOF Clarifies Refund, Reduction of Goods Tax for Energy-Saving Appliances

The Taiwanese Ministry of Finance Dec. 7 clarified the procedure for the refund and reduction of the goods tax on purchases of new energy-saving refrigerators, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. The clarification includes how: 1) to apply for a refund of the reduced goods tax within six months from the day following the transaction date recorded in the uniform invoice or receipt; 2) to apply for the online simplified identity authentication (only for direct-dial tax refund) for deposit of the tax refund into the buyer’s account; and 3) to confirm that the tax refund account information is correct.
