The Taiwanese Ministry of Finance April 18 explained the depreciation calculation rules for fixed assets that are idled due to a business suspension. The announcement explained that: 1) a business’s fixed assets that have been idled due to a business suspension shall continue to be depreciated according to the original depreciation method, unless the working hours or units of production method are used; 2) if the working hours or units of production method are used, the depreciation expense shall be zero because they are not actually being used for production; and 3) the valuation of fixed assets is based on ...
