The Taiwanese Ministry of Finance Aug. 13 opened a consultation on a draft bill to amend the preferential income tax regime for specific foreign professionals. The draft bill includes measures that would: 1) expand the list of income tax-exempted professional categories to include the fields of technology, education, culture, art, sports, finance, law, architectural design, and national defense; 2) amend the application procedure to claim the tax concessions; and 3) increase the concession period to five years from three years. Comments are due Oct. 13. [Taiwan, Ministry of Finance, 08/13/21]
