Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment won’t be able to release a carbon tax system in the first quarter of this year as previously committed, UDN reports on Tuesday.
- The report said at the second meeting for carbon tax rate review held Monday there was a consensus on setting out a five-year plan to increase the carbon tax in stages, but no agreement on the amount
- In late 2022, Taiwan said it could set its carbon tax at NT$300 per ton, higher than most of its neighbors but still below the level believed necessary to contain climate change.
