Tanzania Tax Agency Issues Notice on Application of Reduced VAT Rate for Specified B2C Purchases

The Tanzania Revenue Authority Sept. 2 issued a public notice on the effective application of the provision on the standard VAT rate reduction, reduced to 16 percent from 18 percent, regarding business-to-consumer (B2C) purchases through banks or approved electronic payment systems under Finance Act 2025, which entered into force July 1. The notice includes that the effective application of the provision is dependent on a public notice to be issued by the Commissioner General, which will specify which persons are eligible and the manner the arrangement will be implemented.
