Tax Information-Sharing Framework Widely Adopted, OECD Says

Almost all countries have enacted the necessary measures to share taxpayer information between national authorities, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development said.

While the coronavirus pandemic has delayed 2020 data, 2019 data showed that 94% of jurisdictions—out of 98 total—have “delivered on their commitment to exchange,” according to a report released Wednesday.

The information exchanges seek to help authorities crack down on tax avoidance and evasion by increasing transparency. Last year, nearly 100 jurisdictions exchanged information on financial accounts comprising about 10 trillion euros of total value, the OECD said.
