Texas Comptroller Suspends Coastal Protection Fee Effective May 1

The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts has announced the suspension of the Coastal Protection Fee due to the Coastal Protection Fund reaching the maximum balance permitted by law. Effective May 1, 2026, crude oil transferred through marine terminals will no longer be subject to the fee, and reporting requirements will be suspended while the fee remains inactive. [Tex.
