Thailand Plans Emissions Trading, Carbon Taxes in Climate Law

Thailand’s government set out plans for new carbon taxes and an emissions trading system under the country’s first formal climate change legislation.

A planned cap-and-trade mechanism to curb emissions doesn’t have a set start date and still needs additional approvals from parliament to become law and could be revised, according to proposals agreed by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s cabinet Tuesday.
