One in six profitable Norwegian companies paid no corporate income tax between 2017 and 2022, NRK reported, citing documents it has obtained from the tax office.
More than 34,000 enterprises that earned a combined profit of 550 billion kroner ($52 billion) in the period didn’t pay corporate tax, which is set at a standard rate of 22% in Norway, the public broadcaster said on Thursday. The average paid by the more than 200,000 companies analyzed by the broadcaster was an effective rate of 11%, it added.
