The French Constitutional Council will rule on the legality of the country’s tax on digital services Sept. 12, it said Wednesday after hearing arguments against it.
Attorneys for Digital Classifieds France, and another representing Airbnb Inc., maintained that the 3% French levy, first introduced in 2019, violates the constitutional principle of equality before the law.
The French DST is levied on company revenue in France from targeted advertising, sale of personal data, and intermediary services. Companies in scope of the law are those with €750 million ($872 million) in global revenue and at least €25 million of revenue in France. ...
