The Treasury Department hopes to negotiate and finalize new tax treaties with countries before the end of next year, a top department official said.
The goal is to send them to the Senate by the end of 2020, David Kautter, assistant secretary for tax policy at Treasury, said Dec. 20 at a conference sponsored by George Washington University Law School, the IRS, and the Treasury Department. He declined to name the countries involved in the talks.
