The Turkish Official Gazette Dec. 22 published Presidential Decision No. 9284, introducing withholding tax measures for e-commerce. The decision includes applying: 1) a 1 percent withholding tax on payments made to service providers and electronic commerce service providers by intermediary service providers and electronic commerce platforms, in line with the Law on the Regulation of Electronic Commerce (Law No. 6563); and 2) a 1 percent withholding tax on payments made by intermediary service providers and e-commerce intermediary service providers to similar service providers with a business or permanent representative in Turkey.
