U.K. Cools on Frequent-Flyer Levy as It Mulls Flight-Tax Changes

The U.K. government said a frequent-flyer tax would most likely be too difficult to administer, as it mulls changes to aviation charges aimed at addressing carbon emissions and boosting connectivity.

While climate-change campaigners have lobbied for fees aimed at discouraging people from taking regular flights, such a plan could require the collection and storage of personal information on each passenger, raising concerns over complexity and privacy, the Treasury said Tuesday.
