U.K. Expands Plans to Make Tax Administration Digital

The U.K. will expand plans to digitize its tax administration over the next few years, the importance of which it says is highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

By April 2022, the government’s Making Tax Digital program will require value-added tax registered companies to submit to the tax office in digital format, according to a strategy report released Tuesday.

Starting from April 2023, businesses and landlords that earn more than 10,000 pounds ($12,728) per year and are liable for income tax will need to keep digital records and use software to update Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs on a quarterly ...
