U.S. Bar Association Slams Mexico For Approach in Tax Crackdown

Mexico is breaching “fundamental notions” of due process and human rights in its crackdown on tax evasion, the American Bar Association said in a letter to President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

• The ABA said that it was concerned by reports that the government had targeted lawyers for impeding the crackdown and calling on tax payers to appear before authorities without counsel, the letter signed by ABA president Patricia Lee Refo said
