A recent U.S. proposal to simplify the OECD’s global tax rewrite will influence the direction of the talks as negotiators work to reach a deal by the summer, an Italian finance ministry official said.
The plan “received a preliminary positive feedback by most jurisdictions,” said Fabrizia Lapecorella, director general at Italy’s Finance Ministry.
“This will be the focus of intense work in the next weeks under OECD Secretariat guidance,” she said. Lapecorella was speaking Wednesday at an event hosted by Ireland’s finance ministry.
